| Bob Jordan ran two tourneys in the spring for the Harrison County Chess Club, The HCC Spring Challenge in March and the HCC end-of-school Celebration in May. Here are the results: In the May tourney, John Karraker defeated Shih-Houng Young and Mark Heimann in the last two rounds to cap a 4-0 performance. Mark, a home-schooled second grader from Pittsburgh had a fine day, with three wins including a third round upset of Jason Young, which propelled him to a second place tie with Scott Davis and Jason. In the scholastic sections: Cory Leonard went 3½-½ to win the K-8. Ben Cowley was undefeated to win the K-5 section and Talon Steadman was a perfect 4-0 in taking the K-2 section | |
